Experimentation with media and techniques for illustrators.

In class I had to experiment with different medias and techniques to show my development for my final illustration ideas.

Here was one of my recreations of Rene Gruau's work using pastels.

Here I then recreated one of my own garments in the style of Rene Gruau's work. Keeping the pose of the figure quite similar and then using water colours to add in the colour to my garment.

Here I recreated another of Rene Gruau's illustrations, I created this from Gouache and fine liner as I thought that this gave it a nice effect.

Here I used lines to build up garments, I cut strips of coloured paper and placed them together on the body to make a garment. I liked the texture in this design.

Here I experimented with sampling back drops in the style of Stina Persson, I used water colours and blendid them together in different ways to see what effects I could create and which ones would work best for my illustrations.

Here I put two different water colours onto the paper and folded them together so that they would blend and transfer onto the other side.

Here I added colours by flicking them on the page and allowing them to run together. I think that this was the nicest effect to fit into the style of Stina's work.

Stina Persson's illustration work.

My garment recreated in the style of Stina's work, I added in the dandelion effect into the back drop of my illustration and used two different inks and let them blend together.
