Shape development

Throughout our projects I had to use shape development to help me become more creative with my designs. I did find this difficult to understand at the beginning and had to re-read my brief to take it in better. This is why some shape development is stronger and works a lot better than others.
I have also taken some of my samples from different ideas based on shape development and research within my sketchbook.
This was my first attempt at shape development and I feel that it was nowhere near strong enough and wasn't effective.

This was a strong shape development and I think that it worked really well. I took my inspiration from the shape of DNA and the style of Fred Butler.

Here my inspiration came from chinese fans. I think that it works well however, I could have experimented more.

This was based on debris throughout urban areas as I like the silhouettes of the plastic bags as part of a garment idea.

Here I manipulated urban skyscrapers to fit the body.
This was based on the Chinese Lotus flower. I really like this development as I think that it is very feminine and incorporates strong colours.

Here is an A4 quilting sample I created inspired from the Lotus flower.
