Designs

Recently I have been thinking about my final dress designs for the fashion show and I have now started to draw them out. I have created my designs based upon urban culture as this was my final thread. I first started out by drawing out a simple design idea based on the shape of a street light and a Converse shoe which are the images that I selected from my mood board.
I drew out my first idea and then I developed it further in other forms to create more experimental garments. While creating my dresses I had to think about the style of the garment and the fabrics that I could use to create my garments exactly how I want them.

This is the lace back based upon the lace of Converse trainers.

Here I began to adapt my designs. I did this by adding in side panels to my dress which are to represent the glass of a street lamp.

On the back I have adapted it by adding an oversized bow to the waistband and allowing the side panels to be visible. I added in the bow to create a contrast between the urban culture and the femininity of the bow.
