Creating a dress pattern

Today in my pattern cutting lesson we had to learn how to create a dress pattern. Our finished dress was to include facings at the neckline and arm holes and contain pannels in the side and centre back.
I first started creating my dress pattern by drawing around the dress block ensuring that I included all of the markings as these are important. I then had to get rid of the shoulder dart, I did this by measuring the distance of the dart and the moving it along.
I then had to draw in my design line for where I wanted my panels to be positioned, my new design line went straight through the dart so that it no longer existed.
After I created my panels I then had to trace off the back side panel and the centre back panel ensuring that I had carried my notches off as these are important in the pattern. I then had to add a 1.5cm seam allowance all the way around the outside of the panels and then I was able to cut out my final pattern pieces.
