Gareth Pugh

We have recently been studying a number of designers within our summer project. A designer that inspired me throughout this work is Gareth Pugh. His work stands out and shows off many different aspects of fashion.








Gareth Pugh was born on 31st August, 1981. He began working in costume design for the English National Youth Theatre at the age of 14, then he started his education in fashion design at the City Of Sunderland College where he completed his degree in design and then went on to intern for Rick Owens in Paris. Many celebrities have worn Gareth Pugh's designs such as Kylie Minogue, Beyonce and Lady Gaga. Pugh describes his designs as being "about the struggle between lightness and darkness."






These two Gareth Pugh garment most inspire me, I like the different shapes he has used to make his outfits stand out. I think that they make a bold statement on the catwalk. I think he makes his designs over whelming so that they are rememberable and stand out from other designers work.
